Wear something that will stand out. New Year’s is a celebration of the past year and the welcoming of the year to come, so wear something that will make an impression on people. Try wearing sparkles for an added sense of pizzazz, or a multi-colored sequin dress. These numbers are sure to stand out in photos and become memorable to whoever you interact with.

Remember comfort. It’s going to be a long night, so wear a dress that is comfortable and fits well so you won’t have to spend the night adjusting. Don’t forget to choose comfortable shoes, too. Choose a height that you’ll be able to dance in while still being comfortable. If you want to wear that extra high heel, bring a pair of flats to change into later.

Don’t over accessorize. You don’t want by a large statement piece necklace or dangling earrings distracting people from the dress you spent time choosing to wear. Instead, wear jewelry that is fashion forward but subtle and won’t take away from your glittery cocktail dress.

Consider some extra baggage. The good kind! Find the perfect purse to carry your cell phone, makeup for touch-ups, those aforementioned flats, and other necessities you may need throughout the night. A clutch or a small over the shoulder bag will work perfectly and can hold all of your New Year’s Eve necessities.

Remember to stay warm. If your plans include being outside for extended periods of time, remember to bring something warm to wear over your dress. Consider a cropped shrug to compliment a short dress, or a sequined blazer to compliment a solid colored, knee length piece. There are plenty of warm choices to choose from that won’t take away from your dress choice.
